Up to this point,  I haven’t decided whether to be enthusiastic about the upcoming Superman movie.  Part of the reason is because I’m getting weary of the need to ‘reboot’ the same concepts and show us the same story we’ve already seen with another generation of actors.  I’ve also found Zach Snyder’s work to be somewhat uneven and generally dark, so I’m not sure if he’s a good choice to set the tone for the Superman franchise.

However,  when I heard that Amy Adams had been cast as Lois Lane in the new Superman movie,  I found myself a little more hopeful about the film.

I’ve heard that some folks have criticized the choice, saying that Amy Adams is too old for the part, but I actually like that aspect of the casting.   Something I enjoyed about the Christopher Reeve/Margot Kidder  pairing in the earlier Superman movie was the contrast in character between the somewhat naive country-boy Clark Kent and the more savvy and street-smart  big-city Lois Lane.  A slightly older Lois as portrayed by Ms. Adams would probably make the dynamic work even better.

So, as of now, I’m willing to give Superman Reboot a chance.

Don’t ask me about the SpiderMan recycle just yet though….
