I could have given this page a better name, but liked the way this phrase sounded. There’s enough going on here in this page anyway without adding a clever title as well.
Sadly, the extra color in mom’s face is just the result of me being too artsy and loose with my coloring. Any extra purple coloring in Matthew’s face is entirely intentional.
That still doesn’t make sense. If Matthew IS Bruiser’s son, shouldn’t he wonder why Daddy Dearest would want to hurt him? What parent does that to his or her child? If Matthew asks that question, then his mother’s desire to stay far away from that purple people beater makes a lot more sense.
Tough love – pain and anger made Bruiser what he is, so he uses “controlled hurt” to bring his son into the legacy.
And if the kid didn’t have what it takes, he was better offed anyway… did you expect someone who awakened his mutant powers by battering and killing his own father NOT to be twisted?
Temper, temper…
And yes, it’s real. Messy, weird, and full of things you didn’t want to know but are going to be forced to find out anyway. Great page, Jeff.
Just in time for that bomb to drop, ouch! Choose a good time binge again after a hiatus. 😀
I’m noticing some subtle purple shading on mum’s face. Is she bruiser’s sister or something I wonder?
