Shimmer has already completed her mission, and she knows she isn’t supposed to kill the boy, but she may be in a bit of trouble here now…
I realized that I’ve fallen into the same trap of not introducing a character properly before I’ve brought them into the story. No one has actually said the boy’s name yet, and he’s been here for several pages. You’ll be hearing his name next week.
I was watching the Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do recently, and one of the major characters is only referred to as ‘The Bass Player.” I wonder if Mister Hanks, who wrote and directed it, fell into the same trap of never calling out the name of a character until it was too late….
Oh, well. Something for me to work on as far as writing technique going forward. Don’t be surprised if new characters begin yelling out their names as soon as they burst onto the scene. It’ll be awkward, but it will solve the problem.
Oh crap…
Seems this kid (whatever his name) should be also turning green.
Maybe not deep green (he still has his brains and he bleeds), but maybe pale green.
hmmm…
I suspect the more he bleeds, the more… changed… he becomes.
Sort of a mix between the Hincredible Bulk, and Carnage (who could change into his ‘super’ self only after he bled)
The comment in that last panel is unnerving. He definitely sounds like Bruiser’s child.
Bruiser got his powers from blunt force trauma. The kid got it from being cut. Look like both have at least super strenght, I think Bruiser might be more damage resistant, the kid might have another secondary power…
I wonder what variations could have been, if the power is activated by trauma/pain and is modified by circumstances… what power could have been from other from of bodyly harm or phsychological trauma?
Considering fear, rage and trauma seem to have been the triggers of Bruiser’s transformation, sounding like him under similar circunstances would be hard to avoid, if he were even aware. But yeah, things are close to taking a very bad turn…
