When I was a kid Superman’s “fortress of solitude” was a big ice cave somewhere up north with a large yellow door that he had to open with a giant key. Supposedly the idea was that only Superman was strong enough to be able to use the key, but I always wondered why he needed a door and a key in the first place. Why not just place a really big, heavy object in the way that only Superman could move in the first place?
That’s the idea behind Roid Rage’s hiding place. It’s just hidden under a big block of concrete that he thinks only he can move. Of course, if he forgets to seal it back up again, it doesn’t do him any good at all. Maybe that was the point behind Superman’s giant key and door – he was more likely to remember to close it up when he left….
Ooo plot item! I have 4 guesses on what will happen to the Roid Rage Serum. All of which are probably wrong.
1) Chance is going to use it on a desperate time.
2) New boss uses it and goes crazy.
3) Barging item for The Collector
4) Or ye old classical plan of polluting the town water supply with the possibility of making everyone crazy, and enraged.
So…how does Roid Rage move the rock when he’s not super-strong because he doesn’t have his serum?
1) he’s still pretty damn strong, even without the serum
2) this is just his long-term stash, and he keeps some elsewhere for just such an emergency
3) that’s why he didn’t seal it up the first place
4) emergency back-up winch
5) he’s just crazy and didn’t think that far B^>
The last time I remember them re-booting Superman, which BTW was awesome they really improved the character then, he didn’t start with a Fortress of Solitude. During the “Kryptonian Eradicator” storyline, a device that had been designed to save Kryptonians but failed, It took over Superman and created a base deep under the Polar Icecap. For a long while superman used it occasionally, only he could reach it with his heat vision to melt the way and the water froze behind him. That was destroyed in the “Death of Superman” storyline and he did without again until he and Steel accidentally created a dimensional pocket in Metropolis itself. At the time I stopped reading comics, due to finances :(, they were trying to set that up as a new “Fortress of Solitude.”
You mean new 52? It’s EVIL!!!! I was subscribed to Superman and they just eradicated Superman’s actual, WELL DEVELOPED personality for ultimate spiderman’s personality.
