A reader noted the pair of M/M heroes in this segment (Mighty Man, Mega Mime.)Â It wasn’t intentional, but it made me wonder if the same thing happened when Superman’s girlfriends were created (Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lori Lemaris…) It’s like one key on your mental keyboard is stuck….
Mighty Morphin Mutant Menaces…
Many people do it deliberately. It’s called alliteration. It helps people remember the names, and it sounds more interesting. I’m a little surprised you did this without realizing it.
Don’t forget Superman’s nemesis, Lex Luthor! Surprised Superman’s alter ego wasn’t Larry Landers or something like that…
Comic book characters sound better with alliteration!
@Damian: I believe Clark Kent is actually an alliteration as well ’cause an alliteration is the repitition of a consonant sound not just letters.
Being one of those people who has been reading Superman since the ’60s, I remember some of the times in the books when the characters actually noticed all the LLs, so I went to hunt up some references…nothing canonical, but here’s a couple for you to read. 🙂

I remember hearing Stan Lee explaining during an interview I heard, years ago, that he made up names like Peter Parker, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, etc., because he had a bad memory. At the same time, I can think of a number of exceptions to that “rule”, like Ben Grimm, and others.
DC did that deliberately, that is, putting 2 l’s in names associated with Superman. His girlfriends, his place of work, his arch enemy, the city he grew up in. His own given name. Back in the 60’s they used to discuss it in the letters column.
