A comment that I’ve gotten from more than one reader is that Henchmen for Hire has a very 60’s and 70’s comic book style.  It makes sense, since that’s when I was a young, avid comic book fan, and I’m creating a comic that  fits in alongside some of my best memories. 

If you’re also a fan of the comics of that time, you’ll know that the ads from that period were pretty strange and wonderful as well.  If you hear the phrase “X-Ray Specs” or “Sea Monkeys,” I’m sure you think of your old comics, and can see that classic ad as it pops into your forebrain.

So, as a sort of  ‘filler’ between chapters, I thought I would try making a parody of  one of my favorite old comic book advertisements, and posting it.  Along with superhero comics, I was also a fan of Mad and Cracked magazine from that time, so I think of it as just another tribute to the stuff I enjoyed reading.
