Behind every successful evildoer, there’s usually a good, hardworking henchman (or henchmen, if it’s a team effort) toiling behind the scenes to help make the boss’ evil dreams come true. As a tribute to these often unacknowledged evildoers, we present Henchmen for Hire’s completely biased List of Top 10 Henchmen:
#10 – The Minions from Despicable Me
#9 – The Wicked Witch of the West’s Flying Monkeys from The Wizard of Oz
#8 – Renfield from Dracula
#7 – Jaws (as played by Richard Kiel in the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me)
#6 – Dr. Frankenstein’s Igor
#5 – Mr. Smee – Captain Hook’s right hand (?) man from Peter Pan
#4 – Mini Me from the Austin Powers Movies
#3 – The Joker’s gal-pal Harley Quinn
#2 – The Stormtroopers from Star Wars
#1 – Oddjob – from the James Bond movie Goldfinger
We may have missed a henchman or two, but these are the best ones that come to mind for us. Are there any glaring omissions of outstanding henchpeople? let us know what you think!
Since the vehicle is not not that well known any more, I’ll offer Mord the Executioner from the 1939 film “Tower of London” for special recognition.
Mort the henchman of Death in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels was pretty awesome.
